If you're interested in teddy bears or your child has developed a collection you may have begun to wonder if it is possible to make your own teddy bears at home.  Because there are now many different types of teddy bears available there are certainly several varieties which are able to be made at home - it all depends on your level of competency with a sewing machine, knitting needle or crocheting hook!

One of the easiest ways to make a teddy bear is with a sewing machine.  Invest in some soft, felty fabrics which won't be too difficult to sew (avoid slippery or delicate fabrics).  Look around for a teddy bear design which appeals - you should be able to find templates from craft shops and fabric stores as well as printable versions online.  You may also want to find some stuffing, also purchasable from craft shops, or simply use the fabric and wool scraps you have lying around at home.  By following the template instructions and customizing your bear with your choice of decorations you will quickly have a friendly, furry character for you or your child.
